Technical Engagements

Small (1-500) MLB franchise

Designed & implemented Migration plan for storage and compute for HCI & Netapp solution. Completed implementation on time despite very tight time line due to MLB schedule needs, resulting in no down time for production systems. DR site Netapp had to be converted from single node, and head swapped an extraordinarily rare undocumented procedure was successful.

Small (1-1500) Large healthcare provider

Designed & implemented greenfield production datacenter, at the time it was one of the largest NetApp HCI implementations ever attempted and was done with a new network design. Project was completed ahead of schedule.

Small (1-500) Large Credit union

Designed & implemented greenfield production & DR datacenter. Project completed ahead of schedule with no additional hardware purchases.

Small (1-500) Media Company

Designed & executed Netapp Headswap of all datacenter sites, including multi-head swaps. Plan was executed with no service interruption at all three sites.

Medium (7000+) Technology Company

Designed, implemented, and migrated from 9-year-old infrastructure to HCI solution. Resulting in better performance and massive cost savings, from retiring expensive end of support blade chassis and SAN. Competitors estimated implementation time at 2 business weeks. I executed the project in 2.5 days.

Enterprise Large Hospital

Designed & implemented replacement of hospital’s Tier 2 & 3 and DR SAN infrastructure with HCI. Implemented on time & budget with no data loss or performance degradation.

Enterprise (300000+) Private Security Company

Designed Flex-Pod architecture for four-site international production and DR solution. Migration was carried out with zero service interruption. Client has been able to upgrade initial design without service interruption and plans to use until end of support of a seven-year life. Design was dynamic enough to accommodate cloud integration three years after deployment.

Enterprise (1000+) Consumer Bank

Received emergency call to new client that SAN was down. I was the only one of 11 competing consulting companies to diagnose the issue with the SAN within 15 minutes of arriving onsite, that an accidental restore had completely filled TIER1 of their SAN and was causing massive latency as the SAN attempted to server thousands of requests from SATA Tier storage. As a result, I designed and implemented a multi-site modern SAN deployment from data closets to multi-site COLO without service interruption.

Medium (500-1000) County Government

Designed and implemented DR plan for entire county 911 system. In the winter of 2012, a county 911 system was knocked offline when an engineer performed a battery test during a white-out blizzard. No lives were lost, but it took over 4 hours for the 911 system to be brought back online. After a top to bottom review of the infrastructure, the County agreed to replace 7-year-old SAN with modern HA SAN with failover capability, redundant WAN connections, and redundant VDI resources to ensure system availability. Also implemented change management review for the county to ensure no systems would be changed or tested during critical events.

Large (250,000 patient) HealthCare provider

Implemented and Managed P2V conversion of 250,000 patient healthcare provider. Over 100 servers were consolidated down to 8 vSphere hosts, with no downtime, resulting in 99% virtualization. Integrated Multi-cloud design based on security and data retrieval SLA’s for over 100TB of data, with over 1TB of data migration delta syncing per day. Design was resilient enough that two direct lightning hits to the datacenter only resulted in a 20-minute outage to bring the entire infrastructure back online (The datacenter pro-actively killed power due to static surges).
